This set of 9 fairy tale brooches comes from the private collection of Golden Cockerel owner Walton Conway. They are handpainted lacquerware from the mid-1990s and feature scenes from such fairy tales as "Vasalisa the Beautiful," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Snowmaiden." Painted by Palekh, they are of exceptional quality, although the lacquer on some is slightly crazed from age. The brooches come in the display frame pictured, which is perfect for hanging on a wall or setting on a desk. A great find for the Russian art enthusiast!
