This stout Father Frost Carving stands 8" tall and about 5" wide. It features a classic scene from Russian folklore: the winter troika (three-horse sleigh) dashing through the snow. Is this just a family out for a joy ride? Or perhaps they are on their way to a Christmas Eve service? The horses are full of fire, and one can just about hear the bells jingling on the sleigh. The panoramic village scene that wraps the back of the figurine transports one straight to the Russian countryside. How lovely to hear the crunch of snow underfoot on a frigid night, and this Santa is making tracks, toting a big sack, and carrying quite the rustic staff, indeed!
One of the delightful things about this Father Frost statuette is the swirling way the beard is carved. The relief carving brings the beard to life in its own right, and will bring a smile to your lips.
