This large Nolinsk Nesting Doll is adorned with a bright and cheerful red scarf and green dress with royal blue trim. These cheerful colors pop, but it is the rye straw that makes you sing. Her flowers are not painted on, but rather applied through the northern art of pressing rye straw, dying it, cutting it to exact specifications, and laying out intricate floral patterns with it. In a word, it’s breathtaking to imagine the work that went into this beauty of a matryoshka. With a total of 12 pieces, you can open her scarf by scarf to find the cheerful babushkas nestling inside, and never seem to get to the end.
