One lovely Russian winter motif that appears frequently on folk crafts is the cheery snow bird sitting on a tree branch bedecked with mountain ash berries. Such a scene appears on the belly of this jolly St. Nick. The hand-painted scene has the little bird looking over a quaint homestead set on a field of snow, with the warm glow of a sunset in the sky. The 3-D relief carving gives quite some character to the beard and face of this Father Frost, who carries a staff and totes a heavy sack of toys to boot. Finely painted and signed by the artist. 6" tall x nearly 4" wide at the base.
