Mr. Snow Snowman Carving

This snowman figurine was carved of linden wood and painted with a winter snow scene that reminds you of the extremely deep snows of your childhood.  The village houses are heavily bedecked, and the fir boughs hang under the weight of winter's first snow-- a weighty, wet snow that is oh so good for making snowmen.  He holds a broom, and sports a long carrot nose.  As is typical of Russian snowmen, he wears a bucket for a hat.  And Dad's scarf found its way around his neck.  I have a feeling it will be a long time before this fellow melts.
