Going for Water Lacquer Box

This small but delightful box only measures 3.5" x 2" x 1", but therein contains the Russian countryside entire!  A young lad and lass slip away from the village on a mission to refil the water jugs, meet romantically by the stream, and you fill in the rest of the story.  Painted in Palekh with serial number 327, signed by artist Makarova, dated 2002, and stamped with the Palekh logo on the bottom, this box is the real thing!  And yet the old price, set in 2002, makes it a very affordable lacquer box today.  The top is not hinged.  Excellent shape overall.
