This tall fellow stands 13.5 " and has a big secret to share: his foot pulls off and awaits the treasure you will put inside him. Now, if you were Russian you would know that a bottle of vodka measuring 2.5 " x 10.5 " fits perfectly in there! So strike up the band and imagine the balalaika music this romantic fellow will play you and your date as you enjoy the delights hidden within him. His bright blue shirt is adorned with a floral mosaic created of dyed, pressed rye straw. And the fancy lace patterns outlining the hem of his shirt, his collar, and the band and bill of his cap are also created of rye straw. Even the pattern on the musical instrument itself is applied rye straw. The Nolinsk workshop specializes in nesting dolls (and bottle holders) decorated with straw, and as far as I know, they are the only ones capable of such exquisite designs. Clearly this is an elegant work of art to be treasured. What a lovely wrapping it would make for a vintage beverage. At the risk of being morbid, let me also mention this fellow would also make a very apt urn for the ashes of a loved one.
Signed on the bottom with the artist's name and city Nolinsk, and bears the Nolinsk factory tag of authenticity. No two exactly alike, as the rye applications vary slightly.
