These dainty round earrings have stunning have a handpainted floral design and beautiful gold filigree embellishments. Approximately 1” in length.
Russian enameling dates back to the late 1100's, where colored enamels were considered to be the most expensive and beautiful of items. Rostov enamels begin with a copper plate covered with white enamel powder. Then successive layers of enamel pigments are applied and fired in a kiln to "paint" the piece. The enamels are set in intricately worked 24 karat gold plate findings.
