Do you want to know how to play the Vladimirskiy rozhok? Or maybe you'd just like to know what one is? Find one in the hand of this happy musician ornament featuring a Russian peasant youth (maybe a shepherd by profession, as shepherds love to play the rozhok). This wooden trumpet of sorts typically has 6 holes--five on the top and one on the bottom--and continues even today to be featured in Russian folk ensembles and the like. It became called the Vladimir horn because a rozhok ensemble from the Vladimir region of Russia became quite famous in the late 19th century. This musician wears RED--Russia's most festive color--and lapti--shoes woven of birch bark. Such an ornament will certainly add a dash of Russian folk flavor to your Christmas tree, and no doubt makes a great gift to the musician in your family. He's just one of several village characters we offer---collect them all to make a statement on your tree! Hand crafted in Russia.
