Painted in classic Russian Orthodox style, no fewer than ten icons find representation on this artful matryoshka doll. We carved a window in the shape of a cathedral's onion-domed cupola in the front of the largest doll, which then frames the icon of the Madonna and Child painted on the second doll in. The famous icon of St. George killing the dragon adorns the back of the doll, adding great value to the set of 10 dolls. As you open the matryoshka up you'll feel as if you are within an Orthodox cathedral... icons of Christ, Apostles Peter and Paul, an Archangel, and others appear one after the other, all fully hand painted in great detail. As you might expect of such a fine piece, the doll is adorned with gold gilding and signed by the artist. What is there not to love about this religious icon nesting doll?
