From the Island Lacquer Box

From the Island Lacquer Box is huge, at 9.5" x 7.25" x 1.75".  It comes from the village Mstera, where scenes with curling blue waters as seen here are somewhat typical.  These curling waves give such life to this scene, which might well come from Pushkin's Tale of Tsar Saltan: the old Russian boats with such folk charm are sailing from the island back to the mainland.  The iconic cliffs remind us of God's wondrous creation, and as one peers into this fascinating scene, it is difficult not to fall in and find oneself in a distant wonderland.   Above the scene we find the title "From the Island", and below it is marked Mstera, and with the artist's signature, I. Khromova.  On the bottom, find the Mstera logo.  But if there is a flaw on this magficent box, it escapes me!  It deserves a higher price.
