Ruslan Leaving Ratmir Lacquer Box by Malysheva

The elegant lacquer box illustrates a scene from Pushkin's tale of Ruslan and Ludmilla.  The Russian box is titled "Ruslan Leaving Ratmir" and is signed by the artist S. Malysheva of Kholui.  Although not dated, it was most likely painted circa 2005.  The artistry is magical, the lacquered finish immaculate:  this is a delightful keepsake.  4" x 2.75" x 1"
